<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably cool the intake air of an engine without increasing the mounting space. <P>SOLUTION: A high pressure stage turbocharging device 11 is comprised of a high pressure stage turbine 11a and a high pressure stage compressor 11b. A low pressure stage turbocharging device 12 larger than the high pressure stage turbocharging device in size is comprised of a low pressure stage turbine 12a and a low pressure stage compressor 12b. A waist gate valve 20a is installed in a bypass passage 20 to bypass the high pressure stage turbine. Low pressure intake air compressed by the low pressure stage compressor is supplied into the high pressure stage compressor through a low pressure intake air passage 16, the low pressure intake air is further compressed by the high pressure stage compressor to be high pressure intake air, and the high pressure intake air is supplied into an engine 13 through a high pressure intake air passage 17. A single intercooler 18 installed in the low pressure intake air passage and the high pressure intake air passage is indirectly contacted with the low pressure intake air and the high pressure intake air to cool. A controller 27 controls an efficiency changing means corresponding to the enigine operation conditions to change the temperature of the low pressure intake air and the high pressure intake air. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
