<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a musical score in which a chord and lyrics are attractively presented so as to be easily seen on the basis of music data. <P>SOLUTION: In this music information display system, when chords (chord name letter strings) ca-ci are to be displayed on a staff, the display locations of the chords cd, ce; cg and ch, which overlap with previous chords cc, cd; cf and cg along a time axis direction, are shifted along a vertical direction from the previous chords cc, cd; cf and cg (1). In this case, the vertical position closer to the staff has priority for the chord ce which has continuous overlaps equal to or greater than two and has vacancy to the side closer to the staff. In a letter string "Cm7/C" of a chord ck, a letter [D] which represents the root of the chord is displayed in a different form than the other letters (2). Moreover, when lyrics (a lyrics letter string) are to be displayed, the position of following lyrics wb is shifted along the time progressing direction when there exists an overlap between previous and following lyrics wa and wb (3).
