<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide LCD avoiding a decrease in luminance when the LCD is viewed through polarizing sunglasses. <P>SOLUTION: A display panel has a 1st substrate, a 2nd substrate disposed on the opposite from and in parallel to the 1st substrate, liquid crystal molecules arranged between the 1st substrate and 2nd substrate, a 1st polarizing plate arranged covering the 1st substrate, and a 2nd polarizing plate arranged covering the 2nd substrate. The 1st substrate has a 1st alignment surface in a 1st alignment direction and the 2nd substrate has a 2nd alignment surface in a 2nd alignment direction. The angle between the 1st alignment direction and 2nd alignment direction is within a range of approximately 90°, and the angle between a 1st absorption axis and the 1st alignment direction and the angle between a 2nd absorption axis and the 2nd alignment direction are each within a range of approximately 45°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
