PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that an optical receptacle with a conventional structure wherein a cover is made of an insulator easily has a deviation between the center of the internal diameter of a sleeve and the center of the internal diameter of the cover on a plug ferrule insertion side, and a sleeve cannot be held by a cover to increase loss and a sleeve is broken when a plug ferrule is connected to an optical receptacle and applied with a large lateral load. SOLUTION: The optical receptacle of the present invention never has the sleeve deformed in attachment and detachment to increase loss since the cover does not abut against the sleeve, and the plug ferrule is connected by positioning the internal-diameter center of the cover on the plug ferrule insertion side and the internal-diameter center of the sleeve with a pin gauge. When the plug ferrule is applied with a lateral load, the load is suppressed with the internal diameter of the cover and reducible, so excessive loss and cracking can be prevented.
