PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize compatibility of excellent electromagnetic conversion property and good system stability by eliminating static electric charges (static electricity) of a magnetic head for reproducing without making a magnetic recording medium a static eliminated circuit. SOLUTION: In a magnetic recording and reproducing system constituted of a magnetic recording and reproducing device having a magneto-resistive magnetic head element provided with a flux guide 20 and a magnetic recording medium, the magneto-resistive reproducing head is provided with static electricity eliminating means (12, 29) efficiently eliminating the static electricity, a surface electric resistivity of a magnetic layer forming plane side of the magnetic recording medium is 1×10<SP>8</SP>to 1×10<SP>13</SP>Ω/sq.
