In another embodiment, an illuminated advertising trash receptacle includes a storage device adapted to store a plurality of electronic advertisements, a display screen adapted to display at least one of the plurality of electronic advertisements, and a controller adapted to change which of the electronic advertisements is displayed on the display screen.
