The straightening process is for a screen printing template (12) to print on a substrate (13) on a parallel underlay (11). While maintaining the measured spacing between the template and a substrate, a marking (15) on the substrate and a marking (16) on the template are detected and used to form a picture (15', 16'). The substrate and the template are then moved relative to each other until the pictures and the markings are laid over each other.
