Submersible roll bar for convertible, comprising mechanism with clock spring for activation of roll bar in case of impact

The u-shaped roll bar is swivel mounted to the lateral border of the car body, accommodated behind the rear seats for storage and lifted by a mechanism (1) in case of an impact. The mechanism (1) is positioned at the outer ends of the bar and keeps the unit in a horizontal position by a toothed element (8) engaging with the teeth of a detent (9) held in place by a spring (11). In case of a crash the locking unit (8, 9) is released by the forces of a clock spring (3) axially positioned at one of the lower ends of the roll bar.
