The generator has an oil mist generating and charging unit (2) for producing and charging an oil mist (6), by a coronary discharge, from an oil that is sputtered by an oil injector (11). The discharge is produced by applying a high voltage between the injector and a coronary discharge electrode that is mounted away from the oil mist. A conveying device conveys the oil mist to an operating point by using air pressure.
