<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the case wherein, since a stable monochromatic intermediate density region exists in a four color system and it turns into a color mixture of a dark and light recording material in a six-color system, a density change cannot be corrected in the calibration for the four-color system, a false profile by a tone discontinuity occurs in a transition region from the light recording material to the dark recording material which exists in the intermediate density region, and there are cases where the quality of the image is markedly deteriorated. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus acquires tone characteristic of each color from the tone patch pattern of each color recording material (S802); forms a density correction table for correcting the tone of each color based on the tone characteristics of each color (S803); calculates the tone characteristics of a primary color from the tone characteristic of each color by referring to a basic color density characteristic table, showing the density value of the case where the dark recording material and light recording material are color mixed; and forms a basic color density correction table for correcting the tone characteristics of the primary color, by referring to the basic color density characteristic table and the density correction table (S804). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
