<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the untransferred area of continuous paper conveyed while coming into contact with a photoreceptor where transfering a toner image has been finished from being soiled by the photoreceptor where transferring the toner image has been finished, and to prevent a previous image already fixed on the continuous paper conveyed while coming into contact with the photoreceptor where transferring the toner image has not been started yet from being soiled by the photoreceptor where transferring the toner image has not been started yet. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer 10, bias having a reverse polarity to transfer bias is successively applied to the transfer rolls 24Y to 24K of printing parts 12Y to 12K which have already finished transferring the toner image to the continuous paper P. Thus, the untransferred area of the continuous paper P is prevented from being soiled by untransferred residual toner on the respective photoreceptors 22Y to 22K. After finishing fixing, the untransferred area of the continuous paper P is fed back to the toner transferring position of the printing part 12Y, and the continuous paper P is fed again by normal rotation so that printing may be performed. In such a case, the bias having the reverse polarity to the transfer bias is applied to the transfer rolls 24Y to 24K of the printing parts 12Y to 12K which have not started transferring the toner image yet.
