PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method which can certainly read out embedded information even if a 2nd additional information is simply overlapped and embedded, in an image in which a 1st additional information is embedded without securing a region in which embedding is not carried out, and to provide an image processing device which realizes the image processing method. SOLUTION: Two pattern signals of a pattern size corresponding to the block size of a 1st block region are created in a creator 14, either of the two created pattern signals is selected in a pattern selector 20 in accordance with the 1st additional information inputted from an additional information input part 17, and are embedded in the 1st block region in the input image. Next, two pattern signals of a pattern size corresponding to a block size of a 2nd block region obtained by dividing the 1st block region into four parts, are created in the pattern creator 14, either of the two created pattern signals is selected in the pattern selector 20 in accordance with the 2nd additional information inputted from the additional information input part 17 overlapped in a sub-block unit and embedded.
