PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive which can suppress aggravation of the search time regardless of the conditions of the disk. SOLUTION: When starting to search, this disk drive moves the optical pickup 3 radially on the disk 1 at the maximum speed recorded in the maximum speed memory 8 when making rough search based on the results obtained by comparing the current address and the target address. It counts the number of tracks the beam spot crosses for pulling in the track for tracking control when moving the optical pickup 3, and changes the setup speed stored at rough search maximum speed memory 8 based on the number of the crossed tracks.
