PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update an image information list in dependence on a writing entity when a host computer or built-in scanner writes image data to a memory card. SOLUTION: When a memory card is inserted into a printer, a service layer 220 requests a file list manager 430 to create an image information list. When the memory card is removed, the service layer 220 requests the file list manager 430 to discard the list. If image data is written onto the memory card by a host computer PC or a scanner function of the printer, when a print command is issued, the service layer 220 requests the file list manager 430 to update the list. If the image data is changed by the scanner, the list is updated; if the image data is changed by the host computer, the list is maintained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
