PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for inspecting a liquid crystal display device that are suitable for detecting unevenness, staining, etc., of a display surface and enable automatic detection. SOLUTION: Disclosed is the inspecting device that detects the display state of a liquid crystal display device which has liquid crystal arranged between an element substrate 1 with TFT elements and a counter substrate 2 opposed thereto and also has a plurality of 1st terminals 8 for supplying signals for driving source electrodes and gate electrodes of the TFT elements and a 2nd terminal 9 for supplying a common voltage to a common electrode, the inspecting device being equipped with a means of supplying normal drive signals to the 1st terminals 8, a means of supplying a constant DC voltage to the 2nd terminal 9, and a determination means 11 of monitoring the voltage at the 2nd terminal 9 while the liquid crystal display device is driven to determine whether a liquid crystal display panel is normal in the form of whether unevenness of an electric signal is large or small.
