A composite wire for winding a magnet coil comprises a matrix (4, 4') and a stabilizer. At least one filament (2) made of a superconductive material is embedded in the matrix (4, 4'), and the matrix (4, 4') is surrounded, at least in part, by the stabilizer. The stabilizer is comprised, at least in part, of a material having a high thermal capacity. The matrix (4, 4') and the stabilizer are in metallic contact. This prevents an avalanche-like heating of the composite wire. |
