Stable Co carbonyl hydroformylation catalyst modified with an alkylaminopropionitrile complex former of formula: R-NHCHR1-CH2CN (I) (where R is 4-20 C alkyl and R1 is H or 1-5 C n-alkyl), is prepd. by reacting Co or a Co salt with (I), under H2 in presence of CO, using 3-10 (I): Co molar ratio, and used for hydroformylation of all 2-20 (2-12)C olefinically unsatd. aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic cpds., pref. at 70-200 (100-140) degrees C, under 20-300 (50-200) atmos. press., using 0.7 to 2 H2:CO ratio and 0.1-2wt.% catalyst, w.r.t. Co and olefinic cpd., esp. in presence of an inert solvent. |
