This invention provides a process for producing a rigid polyurethane foam for insulating materials that can satisfactorily satisfy necessary performance requirements demanded from a practical viewpoint, such as retaining of low coefficient of thermal conductivity for a long period of time, good adhesion under low temperature environments, and excellent dimensional stability. The production process of a rigid polyurethane foam comprises foam molding a mixture comprising a polyisocyanate, a polyol, a foaming agent, and a catalyst and is characterized in that the polyol component is a polyol prepared by addition polymerizing an alkylene oxide to an aromatic monoamine compound or an aromatic diol compound.
