<p>A probe-type fluid flow sensor (10) uses at least one pair of acoustic transducers (50) to generate a beam that is reflected multiple times from an inside surface of a pipe (10) when the probe is inserted to a selected depth and turned about its axis so that a flow measurement direction of the probe is aligned with the pipe axis. Measurement of the beam's transit time can be used to determine the actual inside diameter of the pipe. The transit time can be used to determine the flow rate along the pipe axis.</p> |
