The invention describes a system for detecting properties of elongate material such as textile material and a method for constructing such a system. The system comprises a light guiding device (230) wherein a measurement volume (304) is provided, at least one light source (212) and at least one light sensor (218). The light guiding device (230) exists of optical components that are shaped such that the light guiding device can be moulded in a single moulded piece. The lens (350) used to obtain a substantially parallel beam in the measurement volume (304) therefore has a specific convex shape. In a specific embodiment of the invention, the light source (212) and light sensor (218) are integrated on a single interconnection substrate (370) that is furthermore adjusted to position the light guiding means (230) at a calibrated position. |
