Zoom lens having a first positive lens group (G1), a second negative lens group (G2), a third positive lens group (G3), a fourth positive lens group (G4), and a fifth lens group (G5) including a negative subgroup (L51) and a positive subgroup (L52). An aperture diaphragm (S) is disposed in the vicinity of the third lens group (G3). The most image side lens surface of the negative subgroup (L51) of the fifth lens group (G5) is concave on the image side, and the most object side lens surface of the positive subgroup (L52) of the fifth lens group (G5) is convex on the object side. This positive subgroup (L52) shifts in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis to compensate for image shift. The zoom lens satisfies the condition defined by the following inequality (1). ( 1 ) €ƒ€ƒ 0.2 < ’ 5 p / ’ t < 0.5
where f 5p denotes the focal length of the positive subgroup (L52) of the fifth lens group (G5), and f t denotes the focal length of the entire zoom lens at telephoto end. |
