A cooling pack to accelerate and promote healing and pain relief after injury comprises a highly conformable layer 'F' on an outer surface of a fluid receiving envelope 'C' which in use eliminates interstitial air gaps between the pack and the skin of the wearer to improve heat transfer. The conformable layer F is formed from a composite of an elastomer material and thermally conductive particles, e.g. aluminium oxide, boron nitride, or nanofibres, e.g. carbon based fibres. Preferably the elastomer is a soft, cross linked silicone which is tacky to touch. A fine mesh 'E' of aluminium or silver may be used to form an intermediate layer. A coolant fluid is circulated through the envelope via snap connector valves. |
