<p>1295778 Valves BRUNING CO 7 April 1970 [7 April 1969] 16402/70 Heading F2V A check valve through which water is supplied to a beverage vending machine for mixture with carbon dioxide has a diaphragm 40, 60 on each of two sides of a plug 44 having a bore communicating with apertures in the diaphragms. In normal operation, water from a pump flows in the direction shown by the arrows through a circular series of apertures in each diaphragm and ports 74 in the plug to an outlet connected with the mixing tank. When sufficient water has been supplied to the tank, a float-operated switch stops the pump and the gas pressure within the tank holds the diaphragm 40 against the downstream side of the plug 44. If such closure is prevented, for example by foreign matter between the diaphragm and the plug, the gas pressure holds the diaphragm 60 against a fitting 64 and carbon dioxide escapes to atmosphere through passages 50, 52 and 56. A spring ring 71 holds the fitting 64 in the main body 24.</p> |
