<p>A liquid filter comprises an automatic water discharge system comprising a water level sensor, an electrical device for discharging water from the collection zone, a water outlet, and a microprocessor connected to the sensor, the discharge device and an engine control unit in such a way that the discharge device is activated in response to a signal from the sensor when the engine is running in a predetermined operational state. A liquid filter comprising a housing (11) containing a filter element (15) between an inlet (13) and outlet (14) and a water collection zone (16) beneath the filter element comprises an automatic water discharge system comprising a water level sensor (23, 24), an electrical device (18) for discharging water from the collection zone, a water outlet (22), and a microprocessor connected to the sensor, the discharge device and an engine control unit in such a way that the discharge device is activated in response to a signal from the sensor when the engine is running in a predetermined operational state. An independent claim is also included for automatically discharging water from a liquid filter as above by transmitting a water level signal from the sensor to the microprocessor, transmitting the operational state of the engine to the microprocessor via the control unit, and activating the discharge device when the engine is in a predetermined operational state and a maximum water level is reached or exceeded, where the discharge device comprises a pump and a discharge valve, or just a discharge valve in pressurized systems.</p> |
