A holding device comprises an electrically controlled holding element (9), and a shaft with a coupling that interacts with the holding element. The holding element is positioned coaxially with the shaft and assuming at least two positions including a first position releasing the shaft and a second position locking the shaft. The holding element and the coupling have a matching surface structure. Independent claims are also included for: (A) an electrically controlled machine with a movable axle that is lockable with the inventive holding device; (B) a motor from asynchronous motor or a synchronous motor and including the inventive holding device; (C) a controller that controls an axle with the holding device and evaluates the locking position; and (D) a method for securing a shaft, comprising detecting a rotational speed of the shaft, braking a shaft drive, locking the shaft if an actual rotational speed falls below a threshold value, and detecting a position of the locking. |
