The present invention comprises the formulation of two series of liquid lubricants useful for forming and cutting metals. The main lubricating agent comprises a compound including a diol and a boron derivative (Cooling Soluble Fluid), and the second lubricating agent comprises a compound including a triol and a boron derivative (Lubricating Fluid). Tests have shown that said fluids can be used in a wide range of metal works, metals being either ferrous or non-ferrous, but mainly stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium and titanium. A relevant factor showed in said tests is the increase of the production rate and the useful life of tools used in the different processes. The Cooling Soluble Fluid showed a useful life higher than that of former lubricants, said fluid leaving no residues which would otherwise affect subsequent processes such as the painting process. The fluids were harmless to workers or plant personnel who were in contact with them during the handling and use thereof. None of the residues generated during the tests had to be specially eliminated. The inventive products have a higher cost-benefit ratio with regard to products currently available on the market.
