A multifunction peripheral (MFP) device having priority operation mode and a method of initializing the MFP device in priority operation mode. The MFP device having priority operation mode according to the present invention includes a key input unit for setting a priority operation mode, to execute a desired operation mode preferentially to other operation modes, and a memory for storing information on the priority operation mode set, whereby only a module relevant to the priority operation mode is initialized. Accordingly, a user is given an option to select a desired operation mode preferentially, and the selected function is ready within a minimum standby time.
