Radiant and convective heat resistant material and emergency fire shelter made therefrom

A heat and fire resistant material and a fire shelter and kit manufactured therefrom. The material is formed from a woven silica cloth layered with foil and fiberglass cloth. Layer of the silica, foil and fiberglass materials can be arranged to minimize thermal radiation on an inner surface of the material or of a shelter formed therefrom with the proviso that a foil layer must always be the outermost layer and must also form a layer between the outer and inner surface of the material. The silica, foil and fiberglass layers may be laminated using an adhesive or sewn together.
