Cationic water-insoluble but swellable dispersion polymers for ink jet coatings

Cationic water insoluble emulsion polymer latex compositions that exhibit excellent water absorbance capacity to swell are disclosed, wherein the compositions comprise free radical emulsion polymerisation reaction products. These cationic water soluble emulsion polymer latex compositions are used as ink jet ink receptive coatings.
