<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict functions that can be used for each user even in the case of handling such image data in which an area for including authentication information is not prepared. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer 10 that can perform communication through a network, authentication information for identifying a data transmitting source is associated with authority information showing information of a function for allowing the transmitting source to use the printer 10, and the associated information is stored in an authority information storing part 130. In the case of receiving a print request from a PC 20, an authority determination module 220 makes image data requested by the print request to be processed by the function for allowing the transmitting source of the print request to use the printer 10 with reference to the authority information.
