PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can recognize characters as black characters and print them in bright black and can print light black noncharacter objects in light black even when an image read by a scanner is light for some reason. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises means for reading an image, means for recognizing the type of objects in the image read by the image reading means, and means for changing the threshold of a color value for the determination of the color of each object recognized by the object type recognition means.
