PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radar apparatus which can examine by itself the fact that it is transmitting electromagnetic waves during operation. SOLUTION: The radar apparatus comprises a transmitting antenna 11 which transmits a combined signal, which includes a first modulation signal having a first frequency and a second modulation signal which is provided with predetermined time of delay with respect to the first modulation signal and has a second frequency different from the first frequency, to the outside and a radome 12 which is provided in the vicinity of the transmitting antenna 11 and through which the combined signal transmitted from the transmitting antenna 11 passes. The thickness d of the radome 12 is selected on the basis of the first frequency. The radome 12 reflects the component of the first modulation signal included in the combined signal and allows the component of the second modulation signal to pass through. The radar apparatus also comprises a signal processing system 1 which decides whether a high-frequency signal is transmitted from the transmitting antenna 11 or not on the basis of the component of the first modulation signal.
