摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of chamfering or beveling a metallic ring workpiece without determining the rotation center of the workpiece, and to provide a device for use in the method. SOLUTION: The method of chamfering or beveling the metallic ring workpiece is comprised of the following steps. In the first step, the metallic ring workpiece 3 is mounted on a workpiece holding base, and the workpiece is positioned to a cutter 2 and a cutting adjusting roller 6, followed by positioning an inner roller 7 to an inner peripheral edge of the workpiece. In the second step, a workpiece rotating roller 4 and the cutter are driven to press the cutter to the workpiece, to thereby start cutting of the workpiece. In the following step, the workpiece is brought closer to an outer guide roller 5 located in front of the cutter, according to the progress of the cutting, and when a cutting amount reaches a predetermined value, the workpiece is brought into contact with the outer guide roller, to thereby control the cutting amount to the predetermined value. In the final step, before or after the workpiece makes contact with the guide roller, the contact of the workpiece with the cutting adjusting roller is canceled, and chamfering or beveling of an outer peripheral edge of the metallic ring workpiece is carried out while the cutting amount is kept to the predetermined value.
