An absorptive article (10), comprising an absorptive body (17) having a liquid permeable surface sheet material (15), a liquid impermeable leak preventive sheet material, and a liquid holding adsorbent (16) and an outer layer material (14) having a rear side part (B), an abdominal part (A), and a crotch part (C). The absorptive article is formed in a pants shape by joining both side edge parts (18b) of the rear side part (B) to both side edge parts (18a) of the abdominal part (A) through a mechanical fastener (12). A male material (19) is mounted on the inner surface of the side edge part (18b) of the rear side part (B), a female material (20) is formed of a band-like sheet material, and mounted by joining the outer side part (20a) thereof to the inner surface of the side edge part (18a) of the abdominal part (A) and extending the free portion (20b) thereof to the inner side of the outer side part (20a). The male material (19) is locked to the female material (20) at the free portion (20b) to join the both side edge parts (18b) of the rear side part (B) to the both side edge parts (18a) of the abdominal part (A).
