The invention concerns an actuator comprising a fixed outer yoke (10), a mobile core (30) including a central shaft (39) extending along a longitudinal axis (X), a fixed field coil (20) surrounding the central cylinder (39) and a number N of fixed magnetic assemblies (23, 24) uniformly distributed about the longitudinal axis (X). Proximate to each end of the central cylinder (39), the core (30) comprises a number N of magnetic polar surfaces (33, 34) extending transversely to the axis (X). The core (30) is mobile in translation (T) along the axis (X) under the action of a current flowing through the coil (20) to drive mobile contacts of the switching device and the core (30) is mobile in rotation (R) by about 1/2N turn about the axis (X), without driving the mobile contacts.
