<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable fuel cell unit with a low noise level preferable to a power supply for a portable apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An air pump 17 for supplying air to a fuel cell power generator 13 is fixed to the horizontal surface of a case 11 so that the inlet 18 of the air pump 17 is at 90° to 180° from an air intake 12 formed on the side of the case 11. A sound propagation path is not formed from the inlet 18 directly to the air intake 12.
