摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier speed fluctuation phase difference detection method capable of reducing a detection error caused by the effect of the thickness deviation of a transfer member. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a first step in which, after the detection of the position of a reference photoreceptor, a reference mark 20 is formed on the photoreceptor and transferred onto an intermediate transfer belt 1; a second step in which, after the detection of the reference mark 20 on the intermediate transfer belt 1, a reference image pattern 21 is formed for the reference photoreceptor so as to be perpendicular to the direction of the feed of the intermediate transfer belt 1, and also image patterns 22 for the other photoreceptors corresponding to the reference image pattern 21 are formed not longer than the one cycle of the image carrier; a third step in which the sums of differences in passage time between the other image patters 22 in relation to the reference image pattern 21 is calculated; a fourth step in which the phase position of each of the other photoreceptors is changed relative to the reference photoreceptor 7; and a fifth step in which the first to fourth steps are repeated two or more times, and phase relations between the photoreceptors when the sum of the differences in passage time between the other image patterns 22 in relation to the reference image pattern 21 is the smallest is stored. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
