<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus which is equipped with neither a graphic driver nor a character display generator, and provided with a display panel that is limited in display area, but displays the status of the apparatus in two kinds of characters, Chinese characters and Roman alphabets, in a split display manner. <P>SOLUTION: The display panel 8 has 32 unit display regions 8a, 8a, etc. arranged in two lines where each line consists of 16 of the display regions 8a for a European and American languages and is divided into two regions 81 and 82, wherein the split display region 81 is located on a left side to display four Chinese characters, and the split display region 82 is located on a right side to display a European and American language (Roman alphabet) of 16 letters arranged by two steps in eight lines.
