<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unnecessary tab paper from being ejected from an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A specific code T[i]=T<SB>a</SB>including a tab number T<SB>a</SB>is assigned to each tab sheet in a tray (S101, S102). A specific code S[j]=T<SB>b</SB>including a tab position number T<SB>b</SB>is assigned to each set of documents of a job (S103, S104). Each set of documents is set to be printed (S105), and numeral 1 is substituted in a variable<SB>i</SB>(S106). Then, the tab number T<SB>a</SB>of the tab paper T[1] is compared with the tab number T<SB>b</SB>of each set S[1], S[2] of documents in order (S107 to S109, S114, S116). After the images of the set of documents T[i] with a tab number matching first are formed (S110), the set of documents T[i] is removed from the target set of documents to be printed (S111). When no sets of documents match, the tab paper is ejected (S115). When the other sets of documents to be printed remain (S112), the content of the process described above is repeated (S113).
