PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a stable shape detection using a degree of separation by providing a method adapting an evaluation using the similarity between edge points in order to solve the problem that pattern detection in image processing is vulnerable to noise and disturbance to make it further robust. SOLUTION: This apparatus 100 comprises an image input part 101 inputting an image; an image preprocessing part 102 performing processing of the input image such as a lightness image, a chroma image, or a hue image; and a shape extraction part 103 performing shape extraction by determining an evaluation degree of shape extraction according to a combination of feature quantities of a plurality of points.
