A metal drive chain consists of a series of links made up by a succession of parallel flanges (4) and studs. In operation the studs are bent by the drive forces and partially wrap around the corner between the flange hole (9) and flange side face. The corner zone of the flange is especially rounded. The radius is between 10 and 30 per cent of the flange thickness. The holes are made by a punch.
