Process to join two metal components by depositing laser-heated welding wire droplets at pre-heated seam interface

In a droplet-welding process to join two components (1, 2), the two components are presented together in the welding position and are pre-heated near the joining interface. A welding rod or wire is positioned immediately above the interface and heated by laser beam (15) causing metal droplets to fall into the seam zone (3) and effect the weld.
