A radio tag circuit element (25) is provided on an outer peripheral wall surface (24) of a tape cassette (21), at the center in the height direction of the tape cassette (21). Further, information on the tape cassette (21) is stored in an IC circuit section (67) of the radio tag circuit device (25). The IC circuit section (67) is connected to an antenna (68) and is constructed so as to be able to transmit information to and receive information from the outside. On the other hand, an antenna (26) of a tape printer (1) is installed so as to face the radio tag circuit element (25) of the tape cassette (21), with a space section (49) as a gap formed in a side wall section (8A) of a cassette reception section (8). The antenna (26) is connected to a control circuit section (80) via a read/write module (93).
