PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system capable of organizing unnecessary navigation data via a user's selection operations, newly securing a data storable region which can be freely used by the user, and efficiently using the limited capacity of a storage means. SOLUTION: The navigation system provided with a data rewritable HDD 16 having a navigation data storage region including map data and data for retrieval required for navigation function is provided with a selection means for selecting the contents of necessary or unnecessary navigation data; a data necessity determination means for determining whether navigation data selected via the selection means is necessary or not on the basis of the contents of the navigation data; and a data organizing means for creating a storable region by organizing navigation data on the basis of determination results by the data necessity determination means.
