PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and its control method for executing the synchronization of photographic processing and review display, and for shortening an photographic interval by a few buffer memories. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus is provided with an imaging means for photographing an object image, an image processing means for executing processing to obtain an image photographed by the imaging means in a prescribed compression file format, a display processing means for executing processing for displaying the photographed image at a display means and a control means for controlling processing for displaying the image photographed by the display processing means and the execution of the photographing means for photographing the next object image to be performed in parallel after the completion of compression processing to be executed by the image processing means.
