PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dither pattern generator capable of forming an optimum dither pattern, irrespective of the environmental change. SOLUTION: The dither pattern forming method comprises a step of acquiring the present number of prints data from a number of prints counter in a printer (S201), selecting an optimum scene-concentration curve (S203) based on the obtained data, acquiring concentration data of a formed test pattern by an sensor value acquirer (S205), calculating theγcharacteristic curve (S207) based on the selected sensor-concentration curve and the concentration data, and forming a dither pattern, based thereon (S209, S211).
