PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display contained publications as samples and to make a user recognize a sold-out state at a glance when the publications are sold out, in a dispensing device of a vending machine selling publications such as newspapers and booklets. SOLUTION: In the dispensing device, publications 1a are set against a back plate 6 inclined toward the back of the vending machine to be displayed as samples; a bottom plate 5 with the publications 1a to be placed thereon is so sloped that the publications can securely slide down toward the front of the vending machine; and, for arranging stoppers 4 to prevent the publications 1a from sliding down, holes 2 are formed thereon for the stoppers to pass therethrough. Each stopper 4 is connected with a solenoid 3 disposed under the bottom plate 5 so as to move up and down by an electric signal, and moves down one by one from the front when money for an article is deposited so that the publication 1a is slid down and dispensed.
