The sensor elements accommodated inside and at exterior components of a vehicle are positioned at particularly useful places in order to gather information about a potential or an already occurred crash. Acceleration sensors (A) are arranged in front of the A-strut (AS) and behind the front assembly (FE) resulting in a reduction of a diffusion of signals. Tests and simulated situations are used for the determination of thresholds for the activation of safety devices like airbags and seatbelts. |
