A lace making pillow has a core layer (2), which is mounted on a base plate (1), e.g. of wood, and is covered with synthetic felt (3). The core layer (2) is made of compacted coconut fiber bonded with latex. The fibers can be impregnated with ammonium sulfate to make the fire resistant. The felt layer can be further covered by a fabric, e.g. of cotton material.
