<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which allows continuous position information to be obtained without breaks of a sensor output even in joint sections of a linear scale in the case that the scale is stuck on a front or rear side of a drum or a belt being an inertial body and the scale is read to perform rotation control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes; the scale which indicates position information provided in the front or rear side of the drum or the belt when driving the drum or the belt so as to rotate it at a constant speed in an image forming process; two sensors which are provided in positions spaced from each other by a distance equal to or longer than a gap of a joint of the scale and detect the scale; a detection means which weights and combines outputs from respective sensors to obtain position information; and a control means which drives the drum or the belt so as to eliminate the deviation between position information from the detection means and a prescribed target value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
